Junior School Choir – Young Voices at the O2
Yesterday (06/02/20), a group of amazing year 5 and 6 pupils travelled to the O2 in London, to perform as part of an 8,200 piece children’s choir. They sang alongside Tony Hadley, Ruti and The Shires, and they were brilliant ambassadors for the school.

Parents Evenings
Our Parents Evenings will take place on Tuesday 3rd March from 3.30pm to 7.30pm and on Thursday 3.30pm – 5.30pm. Online booking is now open. Mrs Tinnion will be at the junior school on Tuesday evening and the infant school on Thursday evening. Please book your appointment with Mrs Tinnion online when you book to see your child’s classteacher. If you need any help with booking an appointment please speak to the office staff.

Will Quince Visit
Will Quince, MP for Colchester, visited the junior school today and took an assembly to speak about democracy and his role as an MP. The children listened superbly, which Will was impressed enough to comment on. The assembly ended with our Year 6 children posing Will with several challenging questions on the subject of climate change and school funding. Thank you to Will and well done Year 6!

Parents Forum
The Parents Forum that was scheduled for this Thursday 13th February as been postponed. Keep a look out for next week’s newsletter for a new date for this to take place.

Friends of Prettygate – Fundraising
The Friends of Prettygate have some exciting fundraising activities and events coming soon. After the half term holiday each class will have their own bottle for collecting 5p coins. The 5p Challenge is to see who can collect the most 5p coins. One class from both the infant and junior school will win a prize of a selection of playground toys for the whole school to use. So please start saving your 5p coins for us.
On Tuesday 24th March from 5.00pm to 7.00pm Rollerworld in Colchester is reserved just for families and friends of Prettygate Schools. Every booking will raise funds for our school. Please follow the link to book your tickets https://www.rollerworld.co.uk/prettygatejrr/

Safer Internet Day
Next Tuesday, 11th February is Safer Internet Day. We will be holding an assembly next week focusing of using the internet safely. For more information on how you can be involved with keeping your child safe online please take a look at the attached flyer.

Year 6 – Leavers Hoodies
The PTA are organising the sale of leavers’ hoodies for Year 6 pupils. However, before they do this they need permission for your child’s name to be printed on the back of the hoodie. Please complete attached letter to give or withhold permission for your child’s name to be printed.

Arriving Late
We still have a few children arriving late in the morning. Even if your child is a few minutes late this disrupts their morning as learning will have started in the class room. Please ensure your child is at school before the doors are locked in the morning.

School Dinners
Week commencing 10th February we will be eating meals from Menu 3. The junior school have sent out the half termly dinner booking forms, for meals available up to Easter. Please can these be returned to the junior school office by Monday 10th February.
There are paper copies of the order form outside the infant school office for you to complete should you want to make any changes to your child’s meals.

Midday Assistant Vacancy
We have a vacancy for a midday assistant to join our team at the infant school. The position is for 7.5 hours per week (4 days). If you are interested or know someone who may be, please collect an application form from the infant school office.

Mental Health and Internet Safety
Essex Child and Family Wellbeing Service (ECFWS) supports children, families, schools and communities to address current physical health, social, emotional and financial issues that may affect the healthy development and future outcomes of young people. Please take a look at the attached flyer.
