Opening the gate to success

Welcome to Prettygate Schools and thank you for your interest.

We are proud of our children; their attitude to school is excellent. They behave exceptionally well and attendance is very high. They have a high regard for all the staff and find great enjoyment and show interest in their learning and other activities. The children take great pride in their school and are actively engaged in ensuring that the most is made of every learning opportunity.

Our school has a long tradition of excellent results and a wide range of successes. It is a school that has the continuing improvement and wellbeing of each child at its core. The staff are a very dedicated, enthusiastic and hard working team who always go the extra mile to ensure that children are offered the very best opportunities to flourish and achieve.

Our handbook is full of useful information about the school's organisation for the current year. However, the best way to learn about the school is to visit us and see for yourself. Please make an appointment if you would like to learn more.

Here is a link to our school handbook.  You can find information about admissions to Prettygate Infant School in our handbook but for more information please see the Essex County Council website.

The Prettygate Schools opened in 1962 to serve the Prettygate housing estate.

The building is light, spacious and well resourced. There are six large classrooms, a library and a "calm room" for small group and individual work with children and parents. The assembly hall is also equipped for physical education.

We are fortunate to have our own large playing field adjacent to the school and an enclosed outdoor area for our early years children. All weather shelters are attached to several classrooms. The playground includes staging, low-rise play equipment, quiet play areas and sheltered seating.

An established wildlife area, sensory garden and Forest School area offer opportunities for outdoor learning. The site is shared between Prettygate Infants and Junior School.
